COVID-19 Changes and Precautions for Summer 2020
As it always has been, our top priority is your child’s health and well-being while at school. Due to the current COVID-19 outbreak, we will enhance our already rigorous health and cleaning protocols. Please read through the following changes and let me know if you have any questions.
Clothing Procedures:
As always, please label everything that you send with your child. Please write their name on each Ziploc bag and each water bottle that comes with them. Please also write their initials or their name on the inside of the shoes that are left at school.
My goal with all of these changes is to protect your children without frightening them or disrupting their normal school routine. We will continue to maintain the high standards for safety and education that we always have.
I hold strong beliefs about the developmental needs of children in terms of feeling safe and loved. We will honor these Montessori values while emphasizing cleanliness. We do not want our students to see their teachers or friends as toxic or dangerous. We simply want to remind them of proper hygiene and new health procedures. I appreciate your understanding as we implement these new systems.

Clothing Procedures:
- Staff will be in clean uniforms daily as opposed to their own personal clothing.
- Each staff member and student will need to have a pair of clean shoes that they leave at school and wear during the school day. We will have a shoe rack in the lobby for their “home shoes” to stay until the end of the day.
- Each child needs to bring an extra change of clothes in a clear plastic bag that will be kept at school.
- Your child will need to bring a snack from home in a disposable plastic bag for their morning snack time each day.
- Your child’s lunch will need to be sent in a disposable plastic bag and can be stored in a refrigerator.
- Your child will need a clean water bottle from home each day that holds at least 16 ounces of water.
- Only send necessary personal belongings with your child. Diapers, lovies, and other necessary items need to be sent in disposable plastic bags.
- Only staff and students will be allowed in the building. All students will be dropped off at the front door.
- All staff and students will have their temperature taken before entering the building. Anyone with a temperature of 100.4 will be sent home and can return only 72 hours after fever is below 100.4 without fever-reducing medications.
- All staff and parents will fill out a document each day stating that they have not traveled outside of Oklahoma for 14 days, that they have not run a fever for the previous 72 hours, and that nobody living in their house is showing any signs of sickness.
- Every parent must wear a mask for drop-off and pick-up procedures and use their own personal pen for filling out the paperwork. We will have masks and pens available for those who need them.
- We have new air purifiers in each classroom that filter out particles as small as clusters of COVID-19.
- All high-touch areas in the building will be sanitized every 3 hours throughout the day. This includes light switches, faucet handles, doorknobs, etc. This has been part of our normal cleaning procedure, but we will increase the frequency of these cleanings.
- The entire school will be cleaned on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays so every area is fresh and clean for your child when they arrive at school each morning.
